Its summer 2009, and I've never said this before, but there's too much anime to watch. There are more than 20 weekly shows lined up and another 10 sets of OVAs and OADs to watch out for. That's 1 1/2 hours a day, 10.5 hours a week, 45 hours a month. Not much. But the time spend downloading performing black magic on the shows is enough to drive me mad. Don't know about you though.

I felt inclined to say Asura Cryin is awesome after the 2nd episode, but after watching this 3rd episode, the dilly dallying and the messing around of that science-club meganekko was just irritating. Are they trying to lengthen the episode? If they are trying to save money with that, I don't think they are doing a very good job at it.

Something about anime is that they can completely turn something usually mundane and unexciting to the observer into a dramatic and magical symphony of light. Even if its just a table game of picking a tile up and putting another back on the table. Though it would be nice so long games would actually be interesting with a bit of lightning exchange and sky battles.

Recently I've been coming around to do some translation checking for Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. Yes I know the name sounds awfully 1970's and Sailormoonish, I thought so too until I saw the anime. I assure you the name does not do quite as much justice to the show as Gundam Seed did for Gundam Seed Destiny. In other words, it's not so bad since the girls in there are surprisingly moe.

Apparently a new phenomenon is rocking the interweb. Some Swedish techno song has just infiltrated the hearts and minds of all those creative otaku out there and directed them into producing music videos depicting anime characters in compromising positions holding their hands up like cats ears and shaking their butt like never before. If you don't know what I mean, check out the video up there (which I think is the best of all the vids). I finally got my hands on ef - a tale of memories, which everyone has been talking about. SHAFT produced this series too, and I was hoping for the same cool mix of comedy and absurdness thrown in together to make a wonderful mix. However, it seemed like they were taking this abstract art thing a bit far this time.
