This week's Macross Frontier shows where Sheryl was before her life as a star. The flashbacks showed a very very pitiful beggar girl foraging the slums and waste dumps for sustenance. Her hair was messy and her clothes were rags. She had no life to speak of until Grace brought her in, only to use her as a tool to further her accomplices' plans.
It almost seems fateful that I was exposed to Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu just after I wrote my last post about Otakuism. After watching episodes 1 to 4 of it, it seems clear to me now why there has been an explosion of Nogizaka posts across the blogosphere. Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu depicts a world where otakus are made fun of and jeered at in general societies such as school. The main protagonists, Nogizaka Haruka and Ayase Yuuko, two highschool students live in such a world, and as a result of relationships and plain old clumsiness, fall victim to the anti-Otaku society that they live in. I'm not a resident of Japan so I'm not sure if the situation is that extreme there, I certainly hope not. Alright, time for the Nogizaka Haruka jump-in-and-join-the-fun-superpost. Warning: This post is long and filled with spoilers
I'm a dead sucker when it comes to Macross Frontier stuff nowadays. This Moeloli-mode micronized Lt. Klan Klein is the paramount example of awesomeness. Now if I were to seriously expand my anime figure collection, this is definitely on the To Buy list.
Otakuism has been around for some time now, and people are already quite familiar with the term 'otaku'. Originating in Japan, the term 'otaku' (オタク) was once, and still is, an honorific word for 'house' or 'residence' and is used in less-casual and stranger situations where the utmost politeness in a conversation, so as to not offend anyone unintentionally. However, in recent years, it has become demonified, and associated with a subset of a group of people known as 'hikikomori'. Hikikomori is literally, 'withdrawn and locked in', and is used to refer to a group of people who stay inside all the time, and have withdrawn from socializing because of reasons ranging from social pressures and expectations, to extreme cases of agoraphobia. However, when I say 'otaku' a subset of this group, I do not mean a strictly defined subset, but rather to illustrate that otakuism used to be associated with hikikomoris locking themselves in a house watching anime all day. This is because the term has now spread loosely encompass introverts and extroverts alike who express and obsession in anime.
So I was bored over the weekend and decided to try a game that has been released by Hinano and the blogging community not too long ago. I must say it was pretty well made for an indie game, and certainly not a bad effort on the part of the designers and artists. The game was written in Python, so I could guess they did that to save on the work needed to get the basic boilerplate up and running. But, enough of the geeky stuff. Let's see what these guys have got.
This week's Nyan Nyan is an all new episode of awesome moeloli tsundere explosions, big beautiful explosions of Reaction missiles and best of all, Ranka's REVENGE. This episode continues to show why Macross Frontier is just so fucking awesome.
This time we see Birler's new dream of uniting the galaxy's vast distances to ease travel. It's a great idea. But won't it become like... crowded? I mean, the galaxy is so big and wide, that's why all of us have so much fun exploring it. If it was all in one place, it would just become boring and stuff. I wonder about the fold faults. Maybe people truly are frustrated with the fact that they still can't cut through the galaxy as they liked. But then again there's that special foldpack that Michael and Ranka used... Maybe we are seeing Birler's plan come to life?
I was digging through my old stuff today and I found something I thought I lost for a long time. Its a small Gundam Seed Flash that I made to impress the guys on NarutoFan forums once upon a time. Enjoy.
I have managed to get my hands on KyoAni's latest and last rendition of the CLANNAD series. If you haven't watched it, I suggest you don't read on because it will completely spoil the episode for you. Like, seriously. KyoAni has managed to overdo themselves and bring back the magic that gave life to Kanon and Haruhi. Much as my blogging skills suck, this is one show I cannot neglect to pay tribute to.
